The steel mace strike & uppercut is a fun exercise to add to your flows and excellent for working rotational core strength.

Teaching Points

  1. Stand in a boxer’s stance.
  2. Keep you core braced.
  3. Grip the mace with two hands, with one hand at the end of the handle and the other close to the mace head.
  4. Powerfully thrust the mace forward whilst shifting your weight onto your front foot.
  5. Draw the mace back then forcefully drive your rear hand upwards in an uppercut motion. 

Common Problems & Solutions

Error: Losing control of the mace at the top position.
Correction: Work within a range of movement that you can safely control.
