For those who exercise regularly, the order of their workout will not make any difference that much. The fact that they are exercising in any way is much better than wasting time fretting about if you are executing it the proper way. However, if you have particular goals, then it is vital that you keep the order of your workout in mind.
Cardio or Weight Training? What to do first?
If your aim is to get buff and build muscle mass, get to the weight room before any running or any other form of cardio you would like to do. This is because you would like to get the majority of your glycogen stores meant for weightlifting. Your glycogen stores are the way your body saves the energy from the carbohydrates that you just eat, storing them to stimulate your muscles throughout a workout. In addition, the cardio leaves you tired and worn out and much more at risk of injury.
On the other hand, if your goal is to boost your stamina, do your cardio first when you are fresh and also have more energy. But make sure that you fit some time set for weight training since both parts are essential in enhancing cardio capacity and burning fat.
Interval Training
The best way to change your workout routine and to include both cardio and weight training to your workout is by interval training. To work on this, you have to perform some form of cardio for a predetermined period of time, then change and spend the same period of time on a strength training exercise. For instance, take 5 minutes on the treadmill, 5 minutes doing chest presses, 5 minutes on the treadmill at a high incline, 5 minutes performing squats, 5 minutes running on the treadmill and then 5 minutes performing ab workouts.

Proper Workout Order
Furthermore, while having your weight training, do what you want to do first, or else you won’t do it at all. In the same way, begin with the workouts that are the most challenging for you so that you will not get too tired to perform them right after your workout. Moreover, vary the order of the workouts you are doing to make sure you will not get bored with a monotonous exercise, so your muscles will not adjust to a set way of doing things.
