This steel mace rotational uppercut is an excellent rotational and anti-rotational movement that teaches you how to push and pull simultaneously.

Teaching Points

  1. Start with the mace in the front stack position with your feet shoulder width apart.
  2. Rotate the mace head towards the bottom so that the mace is vertical.
  3. Simultaneously rotate the hip and squish the bug on the back foot, finish with both feet pointing in the same direction.
  4. Push the mace head up whilst you pull the handle down.
  5. Finish the movement when the mace is parallel to the floor.
  6. Reverse the movement and return to the starting position.
  7. Switch hands and repeat the movement on the other side.

Common Problems & Solutions

Error: Not driving the ball of your foot into ground as you pivot.
Correction: Squish the bug on the back foot and rotate the hips simultaneously, let your front foot naturally rotate so that both feet end up facing the same direction.
