They’re saying that Kim Kardashian is purposely gaining weight in preparation for a weight loss diet endorsement. The media is just relentless with the girl, aren’t they?

They’ve been mocking her on her choice of clothes for her pregnancy, with one tabloid splashing on the headlines that someone ought to tell her that she’s pregnant, obviously disapproving her pregnancy wardrobe.

Another mean-spirited web magazine compared her in a black and white outfit to a whale with the question, “who wore it better” printed beneath, originally used for celebrity fashion features.

According to rumors picked up by celebrity magazines, the company responsible for the Dukan Diet is eyeing the most popular Kardashian to promote their weight loss diet plan.

Gossip Cop dismisses the rumor to be untrue in this article:

Weight Loss Endorsement Not True

What is this new diet that they say helped Jennifer Lopez lose all the baby weight she had gained in her last pregnancy?
Dukan Diet For Weight Loss

It’s not really new. The Dukan Diet is a weight loss program formulated by a French physician, Pierre Dukan as a treatment for obese people.  It consists of 4 phases which a dieter needs to follow to a T for the plan to work.

There are 3 Phases to the Dukan Diet: Attack, Cruise, Consolidation, and Stabilization.

In all four phases, you’ll need to walk at least 20 minutes a day, take a recommended multivitamin pill, and avoid elevators and escalators.

4 Phases of the Dukan Diet Weight Loss Plan

Phase #1 Attack

Perhaps it means “attack the problem”. The idea is to be on the offensive when it comes to weight loss; to aggressively counter it by taking out all the carbs (and everything else) from the diet.
What the diet is using as a selling point is that you get to eat as much as you can, just not anything you want. As long as it’s lean protein, with the exception of pork and lamb, you can pretty much wolf it all down.

According to the book, The Dukan Diet, your body will get used to the system and hunger will disappear in three days.

During the first phase of about 10 days, expect rapid weight loss at the rate of 7 pounds in 5 days.

Phase #2 Cruise

On the second phase, non-starchy vegetables are allowed to be included every other day the usual meal plus 2 tablespoons of oat bran.

Take note, you can eat in unlimited rations as long as it’s lean protein or non starchy veggies like artichokes, cauliflower, mushrooms, okras, onions, leeks or parsley. (Or check out the list of non-starchy vegetables on Wikipedia). Corn, peas, carrots and potatoes are not included.

In this phase, you’ll continue to lose a couple of pounds per week. Dieters are advised not to move to the next phase until they’ve achieved their weight goal.

Phase #3 Consolidation

You’re not expected to lose any weight at this phase, and to maintain what you’ve already achieved is at its trickiest phase because this is the most vulnerable time for the body to regain the pounds that’s been lost.

Dieters eat the base diet of lein proteins, the non-starch veggies and are allowed a couple of slices of whole grain bread and a piece of a low-sugar fruit like raspberries and rhubarbs. You’re also allowed a portion of hard cheese and a serving or two of starchy food. Once a week, you are allowed to eat whatever you want to eat.

Phase #4 Stabilization

This is the actual maintenance stage wherein you can eat whatever you like as long as you go back to your all protein (phase #1) diet with 3 tablespoons of oat bran at least once a week.

Is Dukan Diet An Effective Weight Loss plan?

In terms of weight loss, perhaps; since you will be cutting yourself out of a lot of calories. But there’s a downside to this diet. For one, you can have bad breath which was mentioned in the book.

You may experience dry mouth and because the body burned your proteins for fuel for the lack of carbs to use, you will experience fatigue. You’ll also have some constipation problems which may lead to a kidney problem. Not to mention that your body will have a nutritional deficiency for having been deprived of the foods that provided the appropriate amount of nutrients.

So, here’s the question you really must ask yourself before taking on this weight loss diet plan: Is it worth it?

Most of the time, weight gain is a sign that your body is not getting the proper amount of nutrition. Dangerously fit boot camp program recommends that its members take on the optimum nutrition plan created by Sydney’s top nutritionist, Rachel Jones. Click here to learn more about the program.
