Learning a heavy Indian Club flow looks intimidating from the outside, but once you break it down into individual movements, it’s a lot more manageable than it looks.

In this video I’ll show you how I teach one of my favourite Heavy Indian Club flows… piece by piece, until you can string it all together into one smooth sequence.

Why This Flow?

I keep coming back to this one because it packs a lot into a single sequence: shoulder mobility, rotational power, grip, coordination, and a fair bit of core work just to keep yourself stable through the transitions.

It’s a genuinely useful flow whether you’re brand new to clubs or you’ve been training for years, you can scale the weight and pace to wherever you’re at.

The Flow

Here’s what the complete sequence is made up of:

  • Mill
  • Side swipe
  • Reverse mill
  • Bull whip
  • Wrist roll
  • Reverse mill swtich

Don’t try to learn all 6 exercises at once.

Perfect each one on its own first, then start linking two or three together, and build up from there. It’ll save you a lot of frustration.

Common Mistakes

The biggest one I see is people gripping way too tight the whole way through. Your hands should stay relaxed as much as possible, you only need to firm up briefly when the club’s at its heaviest point.

Along the same lines, people try to muscle the club around instead of letting it flow.

The harder you fight it, the worse it gets. Let your elbows and shoulders do the guiding rather than forcing it with your wrists.

The other thing to watch is your posture, shift your weight side to side to control the centre as the club moves laterally past the body.

What Clubs Am I Using?

I’m using the Dangerously Fit Gamma Club in this video, but you don’t need this exact one to learn the flow.

Indian Clubs, steel clubs, a Bulava, or even light Clubbells will all work.. just pick a weight you can control without technique falling apart.

New to Club Training?

If you’re just starting out, get the basic movements down first before you jump into a full flow like this one. It makes everything after a lot easier.

If you want a proper starting point, check out the Dangerously Fit 7-Day Club & Mace Masterclass… I walk through all the fundamentals there.

Thanks for reading and I hope it helps.
