Today we’re going to go through another fundamental Indian club exercise.

The Alternating Outside Mill is a continuous outside mill performed on both sides of the body.

Similar to last week’s video but we’re performing an outside elbow circle instead of an inside elbow circle.

Instructions:

  1. Begin with the clubs in the front stack position (elbows tucked to ribs, wrist is neutral, knuckles facing up). Stand tall and relaxed.
  2. With one club perform an outside elbow, sword in sheath and pause in the Y position.
  3. This is your beginning position which starts the movement.
  4. As one club is swinging down, perform an outside elbow circle with the other Indian club.
  5. Pause and check you’re in the correct position. With one Indian club in the front stack position and one club in the Y position.
  6. Remember the cues from the inside mill video; outside elbow circle, sword in sheath, cast to Y position, swing down and back into the front stack.
  7. As you become proficient in the movement you can increase your speed, every now and then, stop and make sure your timing is correct.
